Job Description:

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) responsibilities include customer pre- and post-sales support for airborne Flight Test and Mission Instrumentation/ Recorders/Servers systems. The FAE will be responsible for customer support, training, and serve as a liaison with factory engineering development and other product support entities. The FAE will be responsible for remote and on-site pre- and post-sale product demonstrations, customer support, and supporting sales events such as trade shows.

Essential Job Functions:

– Provide onsite and remote technical support including acceptance tests, installations, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.
– Install software and perform tests.
– Provide customer training.
– Write service minutes and test reports.
– Actively participate in a continuous improvement culture providing recommendations and implementing enhancements to current products, features, functions, and procedures.
– Coordinate development activities between customer, U.S. team and factory technical liaisons.

Job Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
– Experience or willingness to learn about flight testing, flight recorders, telemetry systems, data acquisition systems, mission systems – servers & recorders.
– Must have extensive network experience and understanding of Ethernet networks, switches/routers, and protocols.
– Experience with Mission Systems for flight data recording, data acquisition, and network file servers desired.
– Knowledge of mission/avionics video and data recorders/servers, embedded processors, firmware uploads.
– Demonstrated skill and ability to analyze and develop innovative solutions to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
– Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office.
– Experience in Aerospace/Defense.
– Familiarity with government sales, sales to prime contractors and/or aerospace industry.
– Ability to work in a highly collaborative team working environment, as well as on a self-directed basis when required.
– Customer focused with a desire to do what is best for the customer.
– Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to be assertive yet approachable delivering a positive customer service experience both internally and externally.
– Due to multiple interactions with the teams located in France and Germany, knowledge of European cultures and/or languages would be a plus.
– U.S. Citizenship, as required for U.S. government contracts.
– Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Job Description:

Safran is launching US-based build and repair capabilities for our CORTEX family of products. CORTEX modems are currently built by our parent company in France. We are looking for a hard starter to be part of establishing in-house production and design capabilities from the ground up.

Safran is looking for a candidate to reside in Paris, France, for one year to train and become subject matter expert for our CORTEX CRT and HDR modem product line. After one year of training, the candidate will return to the US as a lead product engineer. Training will focus on CORTEX modems fundamentals, hardware and software configuration to support customer requirements, and repair support.

Candidate must have a proven technical / C++ coding background, the ability to learn new technologies quickly, and successfully work in a multinational environment. The candidate should also have experience bridging technical capability with DoD/IC requirements, as well as working with and between the technical solution provider (France Engineering) and the technical end-user requirements generator (Customer) in an agile development. The candidate must be adept at working directly at the technical level to craft and present solutions to customer requirements.

Candidate will spend up to 1 year in France for product familiarization. After 1 year period, candidate will return to work at our Norcross, Ga, facility as a product engineer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Expectations post-French training include:
– US product owner for the CORTEX product line, act as a solutions architect to solve complex customer challenges.
– Spearhead the technical approach and implementation of configuration solutions for CORTEX products to meet customer specifications.
– Ability to develop and lead technical requirements based on customer feedback.
– Act as the customer interface for product repair. Meet customer satisfaction expectations for product delivery.
– Take lead in next generation CORTEX product development specifications. Work with sales teams to design to evolving market need.
– Meet KPIs and delivery/quality metrics.
– Develop a deep product understanding and positive relationship with French engineering counterparts.
– Ability to work with an international team (ex: US, France, Germany and India).

Job Requirements:

– Strong communication / writing skills are a MUST. Position requires liaison with factory engineers, leadership, as well as customer engineers and business development teams.
– Deep intellectual curiosity for learning new technology and mastering tasks in a short period of time.
– Ability to articulate solvable problems to design teams in advance of customer needs.
– A passion for aerospace technology. Experience with cloud and new-space industry specific to Low-Earth Orbit operations and modems is a plus.
– Experience with Safran or Zodiac products is a plus.
– Demonstrated experience in satellite operations environments, Agile Development, and Systems Architecture is a plus.
– Agreement to reside abroad for one year and commit to US employment after 1 year training.
– Knowledge of the French language is a plus but not required.

Specificity of the Job:

– Reside in Paris, France for one year for training. Up to 10% travel after training, domestic and international.
